After asking you a few questions to ascertain your goal, Dr Somia will ask you questions that pertain to your general medical health including previous operations, reactions to anaesthetic drugs, allergies and medications that you take. All the information will help to minimize risk and optimize your surgical results by better planning.
Dr Somia will then examine and evaluate you to offer personalized recommendation regarding the options available to you. You will have ample opportunity to ask questions. Clinical Photographs will be taken and form a part of your confidential medical record. We will give you a patient information booklet regarding the surgical procedure . Information regarding the cost of the procedure will be given both informally and a formal quote will be mailed soon after the consultation. It is our practice to schedule a second consultation that will give you more opportunity to explore your options. At the end of the consultation you will have enough information to help you make a confident and well informed decision.

As a routine we schedule a second consultation , you may contact us at any time to schedule it. Dr Somia, strongly recommends a second consultation if you are undergoing Cosmetic Surgery.
If your consultation is for Eyelid or a
Face Surgery pleasebring a close up photograph that you like, preferably one in your late 20s or early 30s. This will help Dr Somia visualise your ageing changes. My patients usually find their wedding photograph to be adequate. Any other professional portrait photographs are good.
It is important for you to tell us if you are taking any supplements or vitamins. We recommend that you stop all supplements 2 weeks before the surgery. Some supplements contain herbal and natural products that affect your bleeding and clotting. This may infact result in unfavourable outcomes.
The risk of having Deep Venous Thrombosis ( DVT) in your calf muscles is increased following air travel. A surgical operation also increases your risk of having clots. Airline travel + Major Surgery substantially increases your risk.
An initial consultation is $200; if you bring a referral from your general practitioner $70 is claimable from medicare.
