Fine wrinkles have a new treatment, fat grafting into the skin. Yes that’s right, not under the skin as it is normally done but into the skin. The treatment utilises your own fatty tissue.
It is appropriately named intra-dermal fat grafting. With age our skin loses volume due to loss of collagen and elastin. This process unmasks wrinkles making them more prominent. Botox abolishes muscle contraction with the temporary elimination of wrinkles but cannot replace lost volume.
Hyaluronic Acid fillers are now the mainstay of treatments that add volume to the skin for the elimination of fine wrinkles. Belgian plastic surgeons discovered the intra-dermal fat grafting method, and have published successful results of trials with over 250 patients. The results consistently prove to be excellent with great patient satisfaction.
Intra-dermal fat injection is currently considered one of the most effective ways to treat fine wrinkles. The treatment provides an alternative to the more common hyaluronic acid dermal fillers. Further studies regarding the behaviour of the grafted fat are still being conducted to confirm the long-term benefits.
