Medicare/fund rebates + Superannuation

Medicare Australia does not recognise Lipoedema as a disease.  This means there are no health fund or medicare rebates and no item numbers applicable.  If you wish to apply for superannuation release on compassionate grounds please contact us.  You must have pain symptoms to apply.  Superannuation applications will only be commenced once a date for surgery has been assigned and the deposit paid. 

 

 

Informed Financial Consent Notes

 

Dr Somia

A $1050 non refundable deposit is required to book your surgery date and is due 1 week from accepting a date for surgery. The balance of Dr Somia’s fee is due 4 weeks before. Receipts will be issued at your post-operative visit. Valid for 3 months & includes 6 months follow-up.

 

Anaesthetist

The anaesthetist will contact you the day before surgery regarding payment (above is a guide). If the listed surgical time extends $800 per hour is payable. Dr Koh 0403153275 Dr Miles 02 88502938

 

Hospital

This is a guide only for Lakeview Private Hospital.    A formal hospital estimate will be obtained. Notes: In the event of a complication or listed surgical time extends you may be liable for added fees.  Extra fees will apply for in-hospital pathology testing and rehabilitation services. Please factor in an additional nights accommodation in the event of a complication.

Disclosure: Dr Somia is a shareholder in Lakeview Private.

Surgical Assistant

Dr Somia has a surgical assistant. In the event the listed surgical time extends $200 per hour is payable.

 

Additional episodes of treatment

Given the complexity of lipoedema we cannot guarantee how the body will respond to surgery. Complications during the healing period, skin quality and other factors may result in the need for additional treatment. Fees will apply if additional treatment is required. for surgeon/anaesthetist/hospital fees.

 

Estimate Expiry

Dr Somia’s fee valid for 3 mths. Other fees subject to change.

 

Cancellation/Reschedule

If you surgery is cancelled/rescheduled within one month of the surgery date 30% of Dr Somia's fee will be retained.
